Grounding exercises are a way for you to firmly anchor yourself in the present.
Grounding exercises are helpful for many situations where you find yourself becoming overwhelmed or distracted by distressing memories, thoughts or feelings.
Remind yourself of who you are now. Take ten slow breaths. Splash some water on your face. Sip a cool drink of water. If you wake during the night, remind yourself who you are, and where you are. Grounding is a technique that helps keep someone in the present. They help reorient a person to the here-and-now and in reality.
Earthing And Grounding Your Energy
Grounding/Earthing your energy is a very simple way of bringing your self back into your awareness and connecting to Mother Earth as well as being at one with the universe through your higher self and your awareness. Centering simply means that we center ourselves and our energy to bring about inner peace within all of our chakras and being at the center of one's energy, helps us to feel less scattered in ourselves.
Our First grounding/Earthing technique is called Working With Your Tree Roots. This can go as deep as being at one with the tree in your meditation or, on the surface, if briefly touching the surface and giving the tree thanks out of respect of working with its energies in your guiding walk of meditation today.
Earthing means working with Mother Earths' energy to GROUND your energy so that you remain CONNECTED to your path and spirituality throughout your life. It is one of the checkpoint steps to trace your steps back for if you feel like you are missing something on your journey.
You can start as many times as you like from learning about grounding to mindful meditation, to breathwork, and relieving stress and worry from your mindset by centering your chakras and your inner self mind and roots. Earthing also means being at ONE with the tree in which you usually work with to inspire calmness and clarity in your mind and to bring about harmony in your life and new chapter of your path.
Grounding is the surfaced based technique in which you would sit with the tree and visualize your feet to delve deep into the soil, where you feel at one with the mother earth and tree in its healing being of love and natural energy.
Grounding and working with ROOTs can ground you to the world's energy in its natural way of being at one. Grounding is also the surface's energy but to anchor your energy you need to push those roots beyond the surface into the core of the earth, not necessarily as deep, but just until you feel stable in yourself and in your own skin of being.
To Ground, simply relax and find a comfy space in your awareness & mind. Remember to clear your thoughts so as to keep your mind free of negativity. This is meant to be a relaxed exercise to try. Put on some incense if you wish or music, light a candle for focus.
Visualize the tree roots in the image in front of you on this thread. See yourself sitting among them, when ready, breathe in and out to relax naturally, to release tension that you might have had or collected in your body. Visualize it leaving your body as minus signs on the out breath, when you breathe out, and inhaling peacefulness as pulses back into your body on the in breath, when you breathe in.
When focused, you can then see the tree in front of you growing larger, so it becomes real-life tree standing in front of you, sit down between the roots, see the roots sliding over your feet, by your ankles, note how they feel as they slide deeper and deeper into the surface, beyond the soil.
They do not need to go far deep into the earth just further enough for you to feel the energy and to feel relaxed. When finished, thank the tree by giving it a hug, out of respect for using his and her energy. Bring yourself back to your awareness when ready.
One of the ways of approach to Earth and to Ground is to draw up earth energy while visualizing/meditating thru your roots to The Earth, by visualizing white light from the universe down to your crown chakra into your solar plexus which is where your center is.
When the Earth's golden light reaches the White Light, you can then visualize your body placed into the center point of the light and see it centering your energy & your awareness. You are now centered.
